Huron Capital’s ExecFactor® Platform Expands with Acquisitions in New England, Broadens Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Engineering and Advisory Capabilities

Gracie Gottlieb | 31 October, 2023

Leading private equity firm Huron Capital has announced that its ExecFactor® platform, The Exigent Group, has made two new acquisitions to expand into the New England region and enhance its energy efficiency and sustainability engineering and advisory capabilities. The Exigent Group, which provides commercial HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical system services, has acquired Ambient Temperature Corp. (ATCO) and Global Facility Solutions (GFS).

With the addition of ATCO and GFS to its portfolio, Exigent is strengthening its sustainability offerings and expanding its geographical coverage. Huron Capital Partner Scott Hauncher expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisitions, stating that Huron's expertise in mission-critical facility services, combined with Exigent's exceptional leadership team, has propelled the company to become a market leader in the eastern United States.

These recent acquisitions mark the fourth and fifth for Exigent since its launch in August 2022. The current presidents of ATCO and GFS will remain in their leadership roles and become shareholders of Exigent, ensuring continuity and expertise. The ATCO acquisition represents Exigent's entry into the New England region, while both ATCO and GFS are integral to Exigent's strategy of expanding its market presence, attracting top-tier clients, and augmenting its service offerings by hiring skilled technicians.

ATCO President Russ Stiles expressed his excitement about joining forces with the Exigent platform, emphasizing the need for a partner that can support ATCO's growth potential and align with its culture and union employee base. Stiles believes that the partnership with Exigent will enable ATCO to achieve organic growth and expand through acquisitions throughout New England. He is thrilled to be an investor in Exigent and continue leading the business with the exceptional team they have built over the years.

Robert Calloway, President and CEO of GFS, also shared his excitement about partnering with Exigent. He believes that teaming up with an established and experienced investor who understands driving organic growth and firm strategy will allow GFS to expand its offerings to key clients and core markets.

Huron Capital was assisted by Honigman LLP as their legal advisor and Moss Adams LLP as their financial diligence advisor in these acquisitions.
