Ava Hoppe | 22 April, 2023
As we move into the fourth quarter of 2022, Blankinship & Foster, LLC's 13F holdings have seen some significant changes. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at the changes in holdings of this fund by comparing Q3 2022 and Q4 2022.
The fund's top 10 holdings remain mostly unchanged, with Vanguard International Equity Index Fund (VEU) still holding the top spot. However, there have been some notable changes in the number of shares held and the value of the holdings.
VEU's number of shares held increased by approximately 12%, from 485,181 to 541,800, and the value of the holdings increased by 26.2%, from $21,523,000 to $27,165,000. This indicates that the fund has more confidence in VEU's long-term prospects and is increasing its investment in the company.
In contrast, the number of shares held of DBX ETF TR (DBEF) increased only slightly, from 736,133 to 745,602, while the value of the holdings decreased by 2.5%, from $24,646,000 to $24,030,000. This suggests that the fund is less confident in DBEF's prospects than it was in the previous quarter.
Vanguard Index FDS (VTI) and Vanguard Index FDS (VO) saw similar changes in their number of shares held and value of holdings, with increases of 5.8% and 7.4% respectively. This indicates that the fund has continued faith in these companies and has increased its investments accordingly.
Among other notable changes in the fund's holdings, Ishares TR (AGG) saw a significant increase in both the number of shares held and the value of its holdings. The fund's holdings in AGG increased by 90.3%, from 32,981 to 62,332 shares, and the value of the holdings increased from $3,177,000 to $6,045,000.
Similarly, Ishares TR (MBB) saw a substantial increase in the number of shares held, from 15,305 to 57,542, and the value of the holdings increased from $1,402,000 to $5,336,000. This represents an increase of 280.7% in the value of the holdings of MBB.
Another notable change is the significant decrease in the number of shares held of Vanguard Star FDS (VXUS). The number of shares held decreased from 36,050 to 7,457, representing a decline of 79.4%, and the value of the holdings decreased from $1,650,000 to $385,000. This suggests that the fund is less optimistic about the prospects of VXUS in the long term.
Overall, the changes in the fund's holdings suggest a mix of optimism and caution, with some holdings being increased while others are being decreased. This approach reflects the fund's strategy of managing risk while seeking opportunities for growth.
It is worth noting that this is just a snapshot of the fund's holdings at a particular point in time, and as such, these holdings may change again in the future. Nonetheless, it provides valuable insight into the fund's investment strategy and the companies that it believes have the most potential for growth.
