Investing in the stock market can be a complex and sometimes uncertain endeavor. For this reason, many investors entrust their funds to professionals who use their expertise to find the best opportunities for their clients. Rex Capital Advisors, LLC is one such firm that manages investment portfolios for its clients.
Rex Capital Advisors, LLC recently released its 13F filing indicating the changes in holdings for the third and fourth quarters of 2022. In this post, we will examine the portfolio changes made by the company and evaluate their significance.
One of the biggest changes made by the firm was the reduction of its holdings in the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Ex China ETF (EMXC). The firm sold 59.6% of its shares, decreasing its value to $3,729, from $9,225 in Q3 2022. While this may seem like a drastic move, it could reflect a change in the company's investment strategy or a lack of confidence in the ETF's performance.
Another significant decrease was seen in the Crown Castle REIT Inc Shares (CCI). The firm sold all of its shares, resulting in a value reduction from $867 to $814, a 6.1% decrease. It is worth noting that Crown Castle is a real estate investment trust (REIT), and their shares can be more volatile than those of traditional companies.
On the other hand, the firm increased its holdings in the iShares S&P Midcap 400 Value Index Fund (IJJ) by 7.4%, accumulating shares worth $26,088 as of Q4 2022. The Vanguard Mid-Cap Value ETF (VOE) also saw a significant increase in shares held in the firm's portfolio, with an increase of 203.8%.
The firm also purchased more shares of Union Pac Corp Com (UNP), with a 6.3% increase in holdings, and Berkshire Hathaway Inc Delcl A (BRK-A) and Berkshire Hathaway Inc Delcl B New (BRK-B), with increases of 15.4% and 15.6%, respectively. These companies are traditionally known for their stability, making them attractive investments for those looking for less volatile options.
However, the firm reduced its holdings in Apple Inc Com (AAPL) by 6%, selling shares worth $1,017 in Q4 2022. Similarly, the iShares Inc Core MSCI Emerging MKTS ETF (IEMG) saw a significant decrease in the firm's holdings, as all of the shares held in Q3 2022 were sold, and new shares worth $10,890 were purchased in Q4 2022.
In conclusion, Rex Capital Advisors, LLC made some significant changes in its portfolio for the third and fourth quarters of 2022. These changes could reflect a shift in the company's investment strategy, a lack of confidence in certain companies, or an attempt to diversify their portfolio. However, as with any investment, it is crucial to evaluate each decision carefully, and investors should always seek professional advice before making any significant portfolio changes.
