AE Industrial Partners, LP, a private equity firm specializing in aerospace, national security, and industrial services, has announced the appointment of retired U.S. Army Captain Florent "Flo" Groberg as Vice President within the firm's Portfolio Strategy and Optimization Group.
Captain Groberg's remarkable career with the U.S. Army included two deployments to Afghanistan. In 2012, while protecting a high-level US-Afghan delegation, he heroically prevented a suicide bomber from detonating, saving countless lives. His bravery earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest military award for valor in the United States, in 2015.
"We are thrilled to have Captain Groberg join our team and are eager to benefit from his experience and insights as we explore new investment opportunities in defense and government services," said Michael Greene, a Managing Partner at AEI. "In addition to his outstanding military career, he brings a wealth of private sector experience that will help guide our portfolio companies and keep them at the forefront of innovation."
Before joining AEI, Captain Groberg served as the Senior Director on Microsoft's Azure Government Mission Engineering team, where he collaborated with governments to develop critical mission applications and systems. He also worked at Boeing in various roles, including Director of Veterans Outreach, Chief of Staff for Commercial Airplanes, and Deputy VP & Business Director of Commercial and Marketing. Furthermore, he contributed his expertise to the Department of Defense as an Operations Officer, providing strategic advice across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
"Recent global events have underscored the importance of innovation and the role technology plays in combating complex threats," stated Captain Groberg. "I am excited to leverage my private sector and military experience to help AE Industrial identify and seize new opportunities while offering informed counsel to its portfolio companies."
In addition to his role at AEI, Captain Groberg currently serves on the American Battle Monuments Commission, appointed by the President of the United States. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, holding a BS in Criminology & Criminal Justice, as well as an MS in Intelligence Management. He is also the author of the book "8 Seconds of Courage: A Soldier's Story from Immigrant to the Medal of Honor."
