GRAM Launches New Americas Buyout Fund to Invest in the Hispanic Ecosystem
Gracie Gottlieb | 8 November, 2023
Grupo Romero Asset Management (GRAM), a Miami-based investment firm, has announced the launch of its new Americas Buyout Fund (ABF). This private equity fund aims to invest in opportunities within the Hispanic ecosystem across the Americas. The launch of ABF follows an agreement between GRAM and Carlyle, which resulted in GRAM's Latin America-focused team, led by Eduardo Ramos, transitioning to GRAM. The team's expertise and track record of direct investments totaling $900 million over the past decade will significantly contribute to the success of ABF.
With the establishment of ABF, GRAM gains access to Carlyle's global network and industry experts, further enhancing its investment capabilities. The fund will seek investment opportunities in the US and Latin America, targeting Hispanic-led companies in various sectors. Fundraising for ABF is set to commence in Q1 of 2024, with Carlyle having the option to invest alongside GRAM in future deals.
Marco Peschiera, CEO of Grupo Romero, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Eduardo and his team, stating, "We now have the right pieces in place and this new venture puts us in an excellent position to be the partner of choice for Hispanic-led companies looking to transact and for global investors seeking exposure to buyouts in a compelling and differentiated space."
The combination of GRAM's extensive experience in the Hispanic markets and Carlyle's expertise is expected to create a powerful platform capable of delivering outstanding results. The Hispanic markets in Latin America and the US represent a promising investment opportunity, but they require a skilled team and strong relationships to navigate effectively. With GRAM's new private equity platform, these crucial elements are now in place.
Eduardo Ramos, the leader of the former Carlyle Peru-based team, shared his enthusiasm about joining forces with GRAM, stating, "By joining forces with Grupo Romero, we will bring together their deep roots in Hispanic Americas with a seasoned investment team that is ready to capitalize on a large, growing population with strong fundamentals."
In addition to the launch of ABF, GRAM has also been engaged as a sub-advisor to manage the assets of Carlyle Peru Fund (CPF). This arrangement allows for the continued oversight of CPF's portfolio by Ramos and his team.
