Comparing Selective Wealth Management's Q3 and Q4 2022 Holdings: Winners and Losers
Ava Hoppe | 4 May, 2023
Selective Wealth Management, Inc. recently released their 13F holdings comparison for Q3 and Q4 2022, and there are some notable changes worth discussing. The report shows a shift in holdings for many well-known companies such as Alibaba, Salesforce, and Microsoft. In this article, we will take a closer look at the successful and unsuccessful investments made by Selective Wealth Management and the reasons behind these changes.
Starting with the most significant gain, WisdomTree TR (WCLD) experienced a 372.9% increase in shares held by Selective Wealth Management, jumping from 67,209 in Q3 to 320,247 in Q4. This significant surge in shares was largely due to the company's impressive revenue growth and expanding market share amidst the global pandemic. With more people relying on cloud technology for work and personal use, it's no surprise that an investment in WCLD proved successful for Selective Wealth Management.
Another big winner for Selective Wealth Management was JPMorgan Exchange Traded F (JEPI) with a 5,620.8% increase in shares held from 500 in Q3 to 27,039 in Q4. JPMorgan has been performing well in the stock market thanks to consistent earnings growth and a strong balance sheet. Additionally, the company's diversification in different sectors has helped maintain its position as a stable investment option in the current economic environment.
However, not all investments turned out to be winners for Selective Wealth Management. The biggest loser was JFrog Ltd (FROG), which experienced a huge drop in shares held. Selective Wealth Management held 552,625 shares of the Israeli-based software company in Q3, but that number decreased to a mere 24,976 in Q4, representing a decrease of 95.2%. Unfortunately, several factors, including a decrease in revenue and increasing competition, led to FROG's disappointing performance.
Another significant drop in shares was seen with the Vanguard Bond Index Fund (BSV). Selective Wealth Management held 114,377 shares in Q3, but this number was reduced to 52,844 in Q4, a 52.9% decrease. This loss was likely due to the recent bond market volatility, which negatively impacted bond index funds like BSV.
Salesforce (CRM) and Veeva Systems (VEEV) were also notable losers in Selective Wealth Management's portfolio. Both companies experienced an 18.8% decrease in shares held, indicating a lack of confidence in their future performance. Salesforce, in particular, has struggled to meet revenue expectations due to increasing competition, which has affected the company's stock price and resulted in a decrease in ownership by Selective Wealth Management.
In conclusion, Selective Wealth Management had some significant gains and losses during Q3 and Q4 of 2022. While some investments such as WCLD and JPMorgan proved to be successful, others like FROG, BSV, and CRM did not. These changes in holdings highlight the importance of understanding market trends and investing in stable, growing companies. As always, it's crucial to keep abreast of market changes and adjust investments accordingly to minimize risk and optimize growth potential.
