Sky Investment Group LLC made significant changes to their 13F holdings between Q3 2022 and Q4 2022. In this blog post, we will delve into the changes in shareholdings and values of their investments, while also discussing some of the reasons behind these changes.
First, let's take a look at the top 10 holdings of Sky Investment Group LLC in Q3 2022. The top three holdings were Microsoft Corporation (MSFT), PepsiCo Inc. (PEP), and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), with 95,146, 73,600, and 73,416 shares, respectively. These three holdings together accounted for over 8% of the total portfolio value. In Q4 2022, however, there were some changes in the top 10 holdings. While Microsoft and Johnson & Johnson remained within the top three, PepsiCo dropped down to fifth place with a decrease in shares from 73,600 to 72,376. UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UNH) and Abbot Laboratories (ABT) took over the fourth and the fifth place, respectively.
The largest position change in terms of percentage was in Meta Platforms Inc. (META) which Sky Investment Group LLC had acquired 10759 shares worth $1460 in Q3 2022. But in Q4 2022, they increased their position to 17191 shares worth $2069, which is a whopping 41.7% increase. The next biggest percentage increase was in Avery Dennison Corp (AVY), where they increased their position from 5320 shares in Q3 2022 to 8030 shares in Q4 2022, representing a 67.8% increase.
On the other side, Amazon.com Inc (AMZN) took the biggest hit as the fund decreased its position from 26920 shares in Q3 2022 to 25964 in Q4 2022, representing a -28.3% decrease, which is understandable considering the increased scrutiny the company was under.
In terms of sectors, the fund increased its position in the Energy sector by 25.1%, which is dominated by Chevron Corporation (CVX). The Technology sector remains the largest sector, accounting for nearly 32% of the total portfolio value. The fund has decreased its position in the sector by 1.6%, which can be attributed to the decrease in Amazon.com Inc (AMZN) and Alphabet Inc - Class A (GOOGL).
Some of the notable new additions include Emera Inc (EMRAF), Zoetis Inc (ZTS) and Autodesk Inc. (ADSK).
Looking at the overall changes in holdings, Sky Investment Group LLC's total portfolio value increased from $293,023,000 in Q3 2022 to $340,194,000 in Q4 2022, representing a 16.1% increase.
In conclusion, the changes made by Sky Investment Group LLC to their 13F holdings reflect their opinion on the current market and economic conditions. They have increased their position in some sectors and companies, while decreasing in others. It is worth noting that these changes in holdings are not necessarily a reflection of the quality of the investments, as investors such as Sky Investment Group LLC must make decisions based on their investment strategy and market conditions.
