As a professional investor, you are always on the lookout for new investment opportunities. You need to have a clear understanding of the performance of your portfolio and the changes that are happening in the market.
One of the key sources of information for investors is the 13F filing made by institutional investment managers. These filings provide a comprehensive view of the holdings of institutional investors, which can be used to identify trends and opportunities in the market.
McKinley Carter Wealth Services recently filed its Q4 2022 and Q1 2023 13F holdings, revealing some interesting changes that have taken place over the past few months.
One of the most notable changes is the increase in holdings of VEA, the Vanguard Tax-Managed Fund, which saw a 10.5% increase in shares held. AGG, the iShares TR, also saw a modest increase in shares held, rising by 5.3% over the two quarters.
The biggest gain in holdings was seen in the iShares TR's IVE, which saw a whopping 71.2% increase in shares held. IVE is a large-cap value ETF, and its performance over the past few months may be an indication of growing interest in value stocks among institutional investors.
Other notable increases in holdings were seen in the iShares TR's IVV, the iShares TR's IEFA, and the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ).
On the other hand, there were some decreases in holdings over the two quarters. The iShares TR's BND, for example, saw a 14.8% decrease in shares held, which may reflect the growing concern among investors about rising interest rates.
Similarly, Waste Management Inc. (WM) and UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UNH) saw a decrease in shares held, with UNH seeing a significant drop in value of almost 20%.
It's also worth noting that there were some new holdings added to the portfolio over the two quarters. For example, the Dimensional ETF Trust's DFAT was added to the portfolio in Q1 2023, with over 262,000 shares held.
Overall, the changes in holdings for McKinley Carter Wealth Services over the past two quarters provide a fascinating insight into the shifting trends and opportunities in the market. Whether you're a professional investor or a novice, keeping an eye on 13F filings can give you a clear view of what's happening in the market and help you make more informed investment decisions.
