Betterment LLC Q3 2022 vs. Q4 2022 13F Holdings Comparison: A Look at the Changes in Fund Holdings

The third and fourth quarters of 2022 have seen some interesting changes in the holdings of Betterment LLC's 13F fund. The comparison of these two quarters shows the growth and decline of different investment options and their corresponding values. One of the most significant changes is the increase in shares of VTI (Vanguard Index FDS), rising from 28,387,139 shares to 28,847,527 shares, with the value of shares increasing as well, from $5,354,382 in Q3 to $5,515,359 in Q4. This reflects a 3% increase, making VTI the most valuable holding of Betterment LLC's 13F fund.

VEA (Vanguard Tax Managed Intl FD) and VWO (Vanguard Intl Equity Index F) saw a 4.5% and 1.6% increase in shares respectively. However, VEA's value rose from $4,173,362 in Q3 to $4,363,180 in Q4, while VWO's value only saw a slight increase from $2,754,160 to $2,797,855, reflecting a 4.5% and 1.6% increase respectively.

VTV (Vanguard Index FDS), on the other hand, shows a difference of only 12,442 shares between both quarters, but its value increased from $1,595,113 to $1,696,616, showing a 6.4% overall increase.

BNDX (Vanguard Charlotte FDS) had an increase of 974,915 shares, however, its value decreased from $1,665,372 to $1,640,254, reflecting a 1.5% decline.

Among other holdings with large changes in their shares were: ITOT (iShares Tr), which saw an increase in shares by 1,395,124, and a revenue increase of 12.7%; MUB (iShares Tr) with a 36.7% increase in the number of shares; and EMV (iShares Tr) which saw a 4.4% increase of shares.

Some holdings, however, experienced a decline in shares and value between the two quarters, such as SCHF (Schwab Strategic Tr), which showed a 2% decrease in shares and a 2% decrease in value. Similarly, GBIL (Goldman Sachs) experienced a 15.5% increase in shares but saw a decline of 11.2% in its value.

Overall, the third and fourth quarters of 2022 saw varying patterns in the holdings of Betterment LLC's 13F fund. While some holdings experienced an increase in shares, others experienced a decline, with values reflecting similar patterns.
