Ava Hoppe | 1 May, 2023

The third and fourth quarters of 2022 have seen some changes in the holdings of Estabrook Capital Management's 13F portfolio. The portfolio is reported on a quarterly basis to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and is a collection of the firm's assets that must be disclosed by institutional investment managers with over $100 million in assets under management.

In Q3 2022, Estabrook Capital Management held 50 different stocks, which grew to 52 for the Q4 period. Their total value has also grown, from $328,671,000 in Q3 to $346,299,000 by the end of Q4.

Among the top five additions to their holdings in dollar amount were JPMorgan Chase & Co, Honeywell International Inc., and Pfizer Inc, while Apple Computer Inc, Alphabet Class A, and Amazon.com Inc were among the top five decreases. Cisco Sys Inc, Bank of America, and Chubb Limited Com saw relatively significant percentage increases in their holdings.

One notable change in Estabrook Capital Management's holdings was their large reduction in Amazon.com Inc shares, which accounted for a nearly 28% decrease in their value. However, their investments in JPMorgan Chase & Co, Honeywell International Inc, and Pfizer Inc, have grown by significant margins, contributing to an overall rise in the value of their holdings.

JPMorgan Chase & Co grew from 200,687 shares in Q3 to 198,601 shares in Q4 and increased in value from $20,971,000 to $26,632,000, a 27% increase. Similarly, New Jersey-based Honeywell International Inc. saw an increase in value from $13,812,000 in Q3 to $17,564,000 in Q4, a 27.2% increase. Lastly, Pfizer Inc, saw a growth of 18.3%, valued at $13,353,000, up from $15,803,000 in Q4.

On the other hand, Apple Computer Inc. saw a decrease in shares from Q3 to Q4, from 251,410 to 244,085, a decrease of 8.7%. This decrease was also reflected in the value, from $34,744,000 to $31,713,000. Alphabet Class A shares also saw a significant decrease in share value, from 84,502 to 81,923, a loss of 10.6%. Similarly, Amazon.com Inc saw an even more significant decrease, from 27,030 to 26,330, a loss of 27.6%.

In conclusion, while Estabrook Capital Management's total portfolio value has grown over Q4, the quarter has seen some notable losses in previously prominent stocks, such as Alphabet Class A and Amazon.com Inc. However, the growth in shares of companies such as JPMorgan Chase & Co, Honeywell International Inc., and Pfizer Inc, have more than made up for these losses and contributed significantly to their total portfolio value.
