Shore Capital Partners Completes Partnership with Container Services: A Leading Blow Molder of Rigid Plastic Containers

Gracie Gottlieb | 14 February, 2023

Shore Capital Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm focused on microcap investing, has announced its partnership with Container Services, a Kansas-based blow molder of plastic containers for the food and beverage, household products, and automotive industries. This partnership is expected to boost CSI’s potential and allow it to further invest in its team and enhance its production capabilities.

CSI was founded in July 1991 by Darrell Driggers, who wanted to provide custom plastic bottles for honey producers, including their iconic “honey bear” bottle. The company continued to expand its product offerings and manufacturing capabilities over the years, becoming one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality, custom containers. The company specializes in the production of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and HDPE (high-density polyethylene) blow-molded plastic containers and has expertise working with post-consumer recycled plastic resins.

Today, CSI has over 100 employees, and more than 150,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space. Brent Driggers, Darrell Driggers' son, joined the company in 2015 and is currently serving as the CEO. He will continue to lead CSI in his role as CEO. CSI maintains excellent customer service while providing sophisticated, innovative, and reliable plastic packaging solutions.

Regarding Shore Capital’s partnership with CSI, Brent Driggers said, “I am extremely proud of what our team has accomplished at CSI. Our partnership with Shore Capital will enable us to invest further in our team and continue improving our production capabilities. Most importantly, this partnership with Shore ultimately enables us to better serve our customers.”

The partnership between Shore Capital and CSI is expected to bring significant growth opportunities for the company. Shore plans to invest in the business development, sales and marketing, and operational infrastructure of the company to help drive transformational growth. Shore Capital's CXO Executive Program, which places highly motivated and hungry young executives into management positions throughout the country, has appointed Katie Bush and Ryan Drews to join CSI's management team as Chief of Staff and VP of Strategic Initiatives, respectively.

Tom Smithburg, Principal at Shore, said, “We look forward to working closely with Brent and the rest of the CSI team to achieve our shared vision of providing customers with best-in-class custom rigid plastic packaging throughout the United States.”

Shore Capital's partnership with CSI is expected to explore opportunities for inorganic and organic growth. The partnership will look into possible acquisitions of rigid plastic container manufacturers and explore potential growth opportunities through continued best-in-class customer service, new customer partnerships, and expanded offerings to existing customers.

Shore Capital has extensive experience in partnering with micro-cap companies to help them grow and achieve their objectives. Richard Boos, Partner at Shore, said, “We are very excited about partnering with CSI. Brent and his high-caliber team have built an incredible company with an excellent reputation in the rigid plastic packaging sector. We look forward to providing the CSI team with resources to help the Company to grow bigger, stronger, and faster.”

The partnership is also expected to provide numerous benefits to customers. CSI has a long-standing reputation in the rigid plastic packaging sector, and the partnership with Shore Capital will allow CSI to further improve its production capabilities and enhance customer experience. Shore Capital's investment in the company's business development, sales and marketing, and operational infrastructure will enable CSI to continue providing high-quality, custom containers for its customers.

Shore Capital's partnership with CSI comes at a time when the demand for plastic packaging is at an all-time high. The food and beverage industry has been a significant contributor to this demand, with an increasing number of consumers preferring packaged food and beverages. The demand for high-quality, custom containers is expected to continue to grow in the coming years, and Shore Capital's investment in CSI is expected to position the company for success
