Law Business Research (LBR), a portfolio company of Levine Leichtman Capital Partners (LLCP), has announced its acquisition of MBL Seminars Limited (MBL). This strategic move enhances LBR's position as a leading provider of business information, legal analysis tools, and networking opportunities for the global legal industry. MBL, a renowned provider of compliance-led learning and development solutions for professional services firms, brings its extensive expertise to the LBR portfolio.
LBR, headquartered in London with offices in the United States and Hong Kong, has a strong track record of serving the legal community with valuable resources and insights. This acquisition marks LBR's fourth under the ownership of LLCP, following successful acquisitions of Globe Business Media Group, Docket Navigator, and Legal Monitor.
MBL, founded in 2003 and based in Manchester, UK, has built a reputation as the go-to provider of courses covering legal and accounting topics. With over 9,000 courses delivered through e-learning and in-person training, MBL serves a customer base of more than 6,900 firms, including top legal practices in the UK.
The partnership between LBR and MBL is expected to drive growth and expansion opportunities, as well as provide increased value to their respective client bases. Nick Brailey, CEO of LBR, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, acknowledging MBL's excellent reputation and high-quality products. He sees this as an important step in their shared growth trajectory.
Andrew Alexander, Managing Director at LLCP, echoed Brailey's sentiments, emphasizing LLCP's commitment to supporting LBR's growth plan. Alexander believes that the addition of MBL to the LBR family will further enhance LBR's product offerings and strengthen its mission to inform and connect the global legal community.
This acquisition comes at a time when continuous professional development and compliance have become crucial for legal professionals worldwide. By combining LBR's resources and MBL's expertise, the companies aim to provide comprehensive solutions that address the evolving needs of the legal industry.
Levine Leichtman Capital Partners VI, L.P., LLCP's dedicated investment vehicle, supported the acquisition, further demonstrating LLCP's long-term commitment to LBR's success. LLCP has a proven track record of investing in various sectors, including franchising, business services, education and training, and engineered products and manufacturing. Their structured private equity investment strategy, which combines debt and equity capital, allows for tailored and flexible growth opportunities for portfolio companies.
LLCP has a global team of investment professionals with an average tenure of 19 years, bringing a wealth of experience to their investment decisions. With approximately $13.3 billion of managed institutional capital across 15 investment funds and over 100 portfolio companies, LLCP has a solid foundation for continued success.
The acquisition was advised by respected law firms, Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP and Kirkland & Ellis LLP, who provided strategic counsel to LLCP throughout the process.
