Ava Hoppe | 2 May, 2023

Baker Avenue Asset Management has made some significant changes to their 13F holdings from Q3 2022 to Q4 2022. With over 30 different stocks and ETFs, some notable changes were made to the portfolio which may be worth keeping a watchful eye on. In this article, we'll take a closer look at some of the recent holdings and what might be driving them.

The largest percentage change was seen with VWO, the Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF, which increased by a staggering 1995.2%, bringing the Q4 2022 total shares owned up to 221,454. Another significant increase was with EFG, the iShares MSCI EAFE Growth ETF, increasing by 96% to 366,970 shares owned.

On the other hand, AAPL, the ever-popular Apple Inc, saw a decrease in shares owned by -9.1%. AMZN, another big tech player, fell by -31.2%. Both Microsoft (MSFT) and Caterpillar Inc (CAT) experienced modest increases in shares owned, with MSFT seeing a gain of 15.6% and CAT seeing an increase of 44.1%.

Moving on to ETFs, we see significant changes with IUSB. The iShares Core Total USD Bond Market ETF increased by an impressive 3947.4% from Q3 2022 to Q4 2022, with a total of 169,7149 shares owned. FBND, the Fidelity Total Bond ETF, and SCHZ, the Schwab US Aggregate Bond ETF, both had zero shares owned in Q3 2022, but in Q4 2022, they saw huge increases, with 1,678,108 shares owned and 1,515,668 shares owned, respectively.

The SPDR Barclays Short Term High Yield Bond ETF (SHYG) also saw a large increase in shares owned from Q3 2022 to Q4 2022, with a gain of 374%.

The only holding that saw no increase was LULU, the Lululemon Athletica Inc, which remained at zero shares owned for Q3 2022 and Q4 2022.

In general, Baker Avenue Asset Management has made some big moves with their holdings, particularly in the realm of emerging market funds and bonds. It seems that they have diversified even further, with a mix of established tech giants and up-and-coming ETFs in their portfolio.

It's worth noting that this is just a snapshot of their holdings, and there may be other factors at play that influenced these changes. Nevertheless, it's always helpful to keep tabs on what some of the biggest investors are doing and who they believe will perform well in the coming months.
