PhiloSmith Capital Corp Q1 2021 vs Q2 2021 13F Holdings Comparison
PhiloSmith Capital Corp, a large asset management company, has released its Q2 2021 13F holdings report, detailing the changes in the company's holdings compared to its Q1 2021 report.
The report shows that PhiloSmith maintained its position in most companies, but there were several significant changes in the number of shares held and the value of the holdings. PhiloSmith's top holdings in Q1 2021 and Q2 2021 remained the same - Primerica (PRI), American International Group (AIG), and Brown & Brown (BRO). However, the number of shares held and the value of the holdings changed in some cases.
In Q1 2021, PhiloSmith held 119,700 shares of Primerica (PRI), with a value of $17,694,000. In Q2 2021, the number of shares held remained the same, but the value of the holdings increased to $18,331,000, an increase of 3.6%. Similarly, PhiloSmith held 374,000 shares of American International Group (AIG) in both quarters, but the value of the holdings increased from $17,283,000 to $17,802,000, an increase of 3%.
One notable increase in holdings was in RenaissanceRe Holdings (RNR). PhiloSmith held 85,070 shares in Q1 2021 with a value of $13,068,000. In Q2 2021, the company increased its holdings to 110,870 shares with a value of $16,500,000, an increase of 26.3%. This increase may indicate PhiloSmith's confidence in the company's performance and potential growth.
On the other hand, PhiloSmith reduced its holdings in some companies. For example, the company held 186,925 shares of James River Group Holdings (JRVR) in Q1 2021 with a value of $8,528,000. In Q2 2021, the company sold all of its shares in the company, reducing the value of its holdings to $7,014,000, a decrease of 17.8%.
Another notable change was in Selective Insurance Group (SIGI). PhiloSmith held only 300 shares in Q1 2021, but in Q2 2021, it increased its holdings to 3,000 shares with a value of $243,000, an increase of 1520%.
PhiloSmith also added some new companies to its portfolio, such as Safety Insurance Group (SAFT), which it held 3,000 shares of in Q2 2021, with a value of $290,000. The company did not hold any shares in this company in Q1 2021.
However, there were some companies in which PhiloSmith sold all of its shares, such as RMR Group (RMR), American National Group (ANAT), and ProAssurance Corp (PRA).
Overall, the changes in PhiloSmith's holdings in Q2 2021 reflect the company's continual efforts to optimize its portfolio and maximize returns. By adding new companies and reducing holdings in others, PhiloSmith can pivot its investments to capitalize on emerging trends and industries.
Additionally, the slight increase of 1% in the overall value of the company's holdings from $239,912,000 in Q1 2021 to $242,120,000 in Q2 2021 indicates that PhiloSmith is maintaining its current holdings and making strategic investments to enhance its portfolio.
As always, investors should conduct their due diligence before making any investment decisions based on the PhiloSmith Capital Corp's 13F holdings report or any other publicly available financial reports.
