Tracking Hillsdale Investment Management's Changes in Q3 2022 vs. Q4 2022 Holdings

Hillsdale Investment Management has released its Q3 2022 and Q4 2022 holdings comparison, and the results are in. The Toronto-based investment management firm has made some significant changes to its holdings, with some investments seeing a sharp surge while others experiencing a decline. Beginning with some of the top 5 gainers, we see stocks like Royal Bank of Canada (RY.TO), Celestica Inc. Sub Vtg Shs (CLS.TO), and Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNQ.TO) had significant increases in their number of shares held. Royal Bank of Canada saw a 54.4% increase from Q3 to Q4, from 249,164 to 384,123 shares. Celestica Inc. saw a 7.7% increase, with a decline in share value from Q3 ($27,082) to Q4 ($33,437). Another important player, Canadian Natural Resources Limited, saw only a 1.32% increase in shares held from Q3 (501,092) to Q4 (494,492) but a rise in share value from Q3 ($23,292) to Q4 ($27,437).
In contrast, some of Hillsdale's largest losses came from Cenovus Energy Inc. Com (CVE.TO), Canadian National Railway Co. Com (CNR.TO), and Enbridge Inc (ENB.TO). Enbridge Inc experienced the most significant decline in its holdings, with a 24.18% drop from Q3 (235,373) to Q4 (181,643) in the number of shares held. The company's share value also declined from Q3 ($8,715) to Q4 ($7,093), reducing its stake in the fund.
In addition, some of the holdings saw a considerable change in percentage gain or decline from Q3 to Q4. For example, Waste Connections Inc New Com (WCN) saw a 189% increase from 31,774 to 93,574 in the number of shares held, while the share value rose from $4,288 in Q3 to $12,393 in Q4. Conversely, there was a sharp 403,013.8% surge in Restaurant Brands Intl Inc's stock (QSR) in Q4, with Hillsdale's holding rising from 40 to 124,760 shares. Its value also increased significantly, from $2 in Q3 to $8,062 in Q4.
